UST loses Game 2 to FEU in V-League finals

The University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses suffered a dramatic loss to Far Eastern University (FEU) in Game 2 of the 2024 V-League Collegiate Challenge women's finals on Wednesday at Philsports Arena.

UST led and were celebrating after Cassie Carballo scored what was thought to be the championship-clinching point, but FEU challenged a call that reset the game, leading to a decisive win for FEU with scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, and 17-15.

Jean Asis led FEU with 20 points while Faida Bakanke contributed 18 points. UST's Regina Jurado topped their scoring with 24 points, followed by Jonna Perdido and Renee Peñafiel with 17 and 15 points respectively.

FEU's victory marks the first loss for UST in the tournament and forces a decisive Game 3 on Friday as both teams vie for the championship title.

UST missed tournament MVP Angge Poyos due to illness, but still put up a strong fight despite blowing a 13-9 lead in the fifth set before their premature celebration.
