US provides PHP298M additional aid to PH COVID-19 fight

The US provided an additional PHP298 million (USD5.9 million) to support the Philippines' COVID-19 response.

This brings total US assistance to over PHP768 million (USD15.2 million).

USAID will partner with 18 local governments in hard-hit areas to promote effective crisis management and implement response plans, supporting emergency funding disbursement, quarantine measures, public handwashing facilities, food supply, and business recovery.

The assistance also includes P44 million from the US Department of State’s Bureau of Population for medical supplies, hospital capacity expansion, disease prevention in detention centers, and support for vulnerable communities.
