Philippine Embassy assists stranded J1 visa holders in US

The Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. is working to assist Filipino J1 visa holders stranded in the United States due to the closure of accommodation establishments because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez stated that they are coordinating with sponsors and local placement agencies to bring these individuals home, but limited flight availability poses a significant challenge.

As of now, the embassy has provided assistance to nearly 400 stranded Filipino interns out of over 2,000 active interns when the pandemic began.
