UP Maroons beat winless UE Lady Warriors in women's volleyball

The University of the Philippines' women's volleyball team secured their second consecutive victory in UAAP Season 87, defeating the winless University of the East Lady Warriors with a score of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-17 on Sunday.

Joan Monares led the Maroons with 15 points, while Irah Jaboneta contributed 13 points, emphasizing UP's balanced effort despite head coach Benson Bocboc's dissatisfaction with their performance.

With this win, UP climbed to fifth place in the standings at 5-5, strengthening their chances for a semifinals berth and remaining just half a game behind last season's finalist UST.

Bocboc noted that while his team's victory was due partly to their opponent's errors, he emphasized the need for improvement, particularly in organization and consistency ahead of tougher matches against National University, De La Salle, Far Eastern University, and University of Santo Tomas.

UP has four games left before Round 2 ends, including these upcoming matches where Bocboc anticipates a more challenging environment.
