UP Maroons clinch men's basketball title, 66-62 over La Salle

The University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons secured their fourth overall men's basketball championship and second in the last four seasons by defeating La Salle Green Archers with a 66-62 victory in Game 3 of the UAAP Season 87 finals on Sunday, December 15.

Francis Lopez scored a crucial three-pointer with 1:12 left to give UP a decisive cushion, while Quentin Millora-Brown and JD Cagulangan each contributed significantly with double-digit scores.

Millora-Brown led the team with 14 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Lopez and Cagulangan who both scored 12 points; Cagulangan was named Finals Most Valuable Player for his performance.

Despite the loss, La Salle Green Archers are already looking ahead to UAAP Season 88, with head coach Topex Robinson emphasizing preparation and focusing on upcoming recruits including Mason Amos from Ateneo and Luis Pablo from UP.

The team plans to build around these new players as they aim to reclaim their title in the next season.
