UE wins first UAAP junior high boys title in 38 years

University of the East (UE) secured their first UAAP Season 87 junior high boys basketball championship in nearly four decades with a decisive 78-47 victory over University of Santo Tomas (UST) on December 13.

In Game 3, UE dominated early, breaking away from UST with a 19-point run in the second quarter to build leads as large as 33 points by halftime.

Gab Delos Reyes was named Finals MVP for his stellar defensive performance and averaged 9.3 points, 14.3 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks throughout the series.

UE's victory marked a turnaround from their earlier setbacks, including a 98-84 loss in Game 1 of the Finals against UST, to clinch the championship with a perfect game.

The Junior Warriors' triumph is seen as a significant milestone for the program and the school, making UE a destination for aspiring basketball players.
