Kevin Quiambao wins UAAP men's basketball MVP for second year

Kevin Quiambao was named MVP for the second consecutive year on Wednesday during La Salle's do-or-die Game 2 against UP in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament.

Quiambao, who averaged 16.64 points, 8.64 rebounds, and 4.07 assists per game, became the first Green Archer to win back-to-back MVPs since Ben Mbala in 2017.

In his acceptance speech, Quiambao thanked God, the La Sallian community, and the UAAP for their support throughout the season, acknowledging that this might be his last time receiving such an award as he prepares to join the Korean Basketball League (KBL).

Quiambao received a total of P200,000 in cash prizes, including P190,000 from special awards and P10,000 from his Mythical Team selection.

Mike Phillips, Quiambao's teammate from La Salle, was named part of the Mythical Five alongside JD Cagulangan (UP), Mo Konateh (FEU), and Nic Cabanero (UST).
