UP men's team secures Final Four spot with win over Adamson

The University of the Philippines (UP) men's basketball team secured a spot in the UAAP Season 87 Final Four with a decisive victory over Adamson University on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

JD Cagulangan led UP with 17 points, while Gani Stevens contributed 10 points and three rebounds, helping the team bounce back from a two-week hiatus to clinch their eighth win in nine games despite having a slow start.

UP's defense played a crucial role in securing the victory, forcing Adamson into 28 turnovers and limiting their scoring opportunities, while UP improved its record to 8-1 and advanced alongside De La Salle University to the semifinals.

The Maroons acknowledged their struggles with slow starts this season and emphasized the need to improve on that aspect going forward, especially ahead of their crucial matchup against Ateneo for round two of the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
