UP routs Ateneo 75-47 in UAAP men's basketball

The University of the Philippines (UP) defeated Ateneo de Manila University 75-47 in their UAAP Season 87 men's basketball game on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena, extending their lead from halftime to as much as 30 points.

Francis Lopez led UP with 20 points and five rebounds, while Quentin Millora-Brown contributed a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

UP coach Goldwin Monteverde emphasized his team's focus on redemption despite securing a playoff spot, noting that the Maroons' defense forced Ateneo into committing 17 turnovers, their highest this season.

The Maroons improved their record to 9-1 with an all-around effort and are now in position to earn a twice-to-beat incentive in the Final Four.

Ateneo's poor shooting performance (26.9% field goal percentage) and rebounding deficit (51-42) contributed to their fourth straight loss against UP since last year, dropping them to a 3-8 record.
