Ateneo suffers worst loss to UP, 75-47, in UAAP; Baldwin cites immaturity and poor shooting

Ateneo de Manila University head coach Tab Baldwin suffered his worst loss in the UAAP as University of the Philippines defeated Ateneo, 75-47, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Baldwin attributed the defeat to his team's immaturity and inability to withstand UP's pressure, especially during the third quarter when they gave up a significant run, but emphasized moving forward with three games remaining in the season.

UP coach Goldwin Monteverde praised Baldwin for his coaching acumen and noted that every game against Ateneo is an opportunity to learn and improve.

Ateneo struggled with their shooting accuracy, converting only 26.9% from the field, while being outrebounded by UP (51-42).

Despite the loss, Baldwin sees it as an opportunity for his team to work hard and finish the season on a positive note, stressing the importance of assertive basketball in their upcoming matches.

Monteverde emphasized that the victory is a stepping stone for UP's continued improvement in their quest to reclaim the UAAP title this year.

Both coaches stressed the importance of preparation and adaptability in facing future challenges.
