UP men's volleyball ends 15-game losing streak

The University of the Philippines men's volleyball team secured their first win of UAAP Season 86 by defeating Adamson University, 19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 28-26, on Saturday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Jaivee Malabanan led the Maroons with 17 points, 19 excellent receptions, and nine digs, while Clarence Santiago provided stellar setting with 26 excellent sets.

Despite trailing by a point in the fourth set, UP rallied to score three consecutive points for a two-point lead and ultimately won the match, ending their 15-game losing streak dating back to Season 85.

Marc Paulino led Adamson with 20 points and 17 attacks, while Francis Casas contributed 18 markers, eight digs, and three receptions.

UP head coach Vip Isada expressed elation over the team's first win of the season, attributing it to the introduction of a new system and culture.

With this loss, Adamson drops to a 4-7 record in the standings and faces challenges to their Final Four hopes as they prepare for their next match against De La Salle University on Wednesday.
