UP women's basketball ends losing streak, beats FEU 86-78

The University of the Philippines women's basketball team ended a five-game losing streak and secured a crucial victory over Far Eastern University, 86-78, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 87 tournament.

UP head coach Paul Ramos expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, noting their improved connection and motivation against FEU.

The Fighting Maroons led by as much as 16 points but had to fend off a late charge from FEU, which dropped to a 5-9 record for the season.

Gerry Abadiano finished with 19 points and four rebounds, while JD Cagulangan added 12 critical points in the final minutes to seal the victory.

FEU's Bautista led all scorers with 16 points, but it was not enough to prevent their third straight loss and eliminate them from contention for the Final Four.
