UST loses to UE in tennis, misses Final 4

University of Santo Tomas defeated University of the East, 6-1, in the UAAP Season 86 Men's Football Tournament on Sunday at the UP Diliman Football Stadium.

However, UE upset UST with a 4-1 victory in the men's tennis tournament on Wednesday at the Felicisimo Ampon Tennis Center in Manila.

The loss prevented UST from clinching a playoff for a Final 4 spot and left them with a record of 6-2, just half a tie behind leaders Ateneo Blue Eagles who stand at 6-1.

UST's first loss after winning six consecutive ties earlier in the season was secured by UE's Jarell Edangga, avenging his previous defeat to UST’s EJ Tangub.

UE head coach Roel Licayan emphasized that his team believed they were equally matched with UST and focused on enjoying their game.

With this result, UP revived its slim chances of making the Final Four with a 4-1 rout over De La Salle University, while National University secured a 4-1 victory against Adamson to remain in fourth place.
