UST leads men's division, NU tops women's after UAAP Season 86 first round

National University and the University of Santo Tomas remain at the top in the women's and men's divisions respectively, following the first round of the UAAP Season 86 tennis tournament on Saturday.

Ateneo de Manila University moved to solo second place in the men’s division after a 5-0 sweep over Adamson University on Sunday, bringing their overall record to 6-1.

UST maintained its undefeated streak with a 5-0 win against La Salle and another victory over Ateneo, while Ateneo's JD Velez secured his team's second straight win in singles play.

In the women’s division, UST and UP stayed near idle NU after respective wins over Ateneo and De La Salle, with Princess Gom-os and Miles Vitaliano delivering a decisive double bagel victory against Althea Ong and Chelsea Roque for UP.

National University holds onto its top spot in the women's division with a 4-1 win over De La Salle, while Ateneo continues to search for their first breakthrough victory after five ties.
