UE wins first golden double in UAAP Judo

University of the East (UE) made history on Sunday by securing its first-ever golden double after winning three titles in the UAAP Season 87 Judo Championships at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

In the women's division, UE's Lady Warriors earned a total of 45 points to claim their fifth overall title and back-to-back championship, while Troy Estrella from University of Santo Tomas (UST) won the minus-66 kg final to become MVP in the men's category.

UE's Leah Jhane Lopez maintained her lead with four gold medals, three silvers, and three bronzes, securing UE's fourth consecutive women's title, while UST edged out UE for the boys' division title by one gold medal despite equal points.

The strong bond among coaches and student-athletes at UE contributed to their success, with Lopez emphasizing the importance of teamwork and discipline within the program.
