UP men's basketball wins Season 87 UAAP title

The University of the Philippines (UP) men's basketball team won the Season 87 UAAP championship by defeating De La Salle University with a score of 66-62 in front of a record-breaking crowd of 25,248 at the Araneta Coliseum.

This victory marks UP's fourth UAAP title and their second in four seasons, following runner-up finishes against Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University in Seasons 85 and 86 respectively.

Graduating guard JD Cagulangan was named Finals MVP for his contributions, including scoring 12 points, four assists, three steals, and two rebounds in Game 3 of the championship series.

Cagulangan expressed gratitude to Coach Goldwin Monteverde and the program for welcoming him and supporting him throughout his collegiate career, which concluded with a well-deserved championship.
