TD Gener weakens but affects 18 Luzon regions with rain, wind

Tropical Depression Gener slightly weakened as it passed through the Cordilleras but remains active with Wind Signal No. 1 hoisted over 18 regions in Luzon.

The affected areas include Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga.

Heavy rainfall of 100-200 millimeters is expected over Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, and Abra from Tuesday to Wednesday due to Gener and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.

Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within areas under signal no. 1, with severe winds also affecting Batanes, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao on Tuesday and over Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao on Wednesday.

Classes for Tuesday, September 17, 2024 have been suspended in some areas due to the effects of Gener and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.
