SWS: 80% hopeful worst of pandemic had passed

A December 2021 survey by Social Weather Stations found that 80% of Filipinos were hopeful the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic had passed, with concern over catching the virus easing across all island groups.

This optimism was recorded before the recent surge in cases driven by the Omicron variant; since late December, daily infections have climbed drastically, reaching a new high of 26,458 cases on January 8.
