BSP spox confident of hitting 7-9% growth target despite Omicron

BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno remains confident that the Philippines can achieve its 2022 growth target of 7-9% despite the Omicron variant.

Diokno noted that while the new variant is causing a surge in cases, it appears to be milder and less lethal compared to previous variants.

The country reported a record-high number of daily confirmed infections on Thursday at 34,021.

Despite these challenges, Diokno assured business leaders that the banking system remains robust with adequate cash reserves and manageable bad debt levels.
