NCR's case growth rate drops to 2%; peak near or testing limited

The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a 2% decrease in its seven-day moving average of new COVID-19 infections as of Sunday, January 16.

OCTA Research Group member Dr. Guido David noted that this could indicate either the peak is near or testing capacity is limited.

David explained that if cases start decreasing next week, it suggests the peak has been reached; otherwise, the number of new cases will remain stable until a downward trend occurs.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire projected on January 15 that active NCR COVID-19 cases could double by February 15, with current active cases at around 147,000.
