Storms Kristine and Leon kill 151, injure 134, leave 21 missing

The number of reported deaths due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Typhoon Leon has risen to 151, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Tuesday.

Only 20 of the reported deaths have been confirmed, with 134 people injured and 21 still missing.

The storm affected over 8.8 million individuals across various regions, causing damage to more than 178,747 houses in 16 different areas.

Region 5 recorded the highest number of fatalities with 15 validated deaths, while Region 3 followed closely with additional casualties and injuries.

The Department of Agriculture reported that agricultural damage amounted to P4.85 billion, with rice crops sustaining 85 percent of the losses totaling P4.12 billion.
