DSWD distributes PHP118M aid to STS Kristine victims

Families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine are receiving financial and material assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its crisis program.

PHP62.52 million has been distributed to 79,602 families in Eastern Visayas for aid, while PHP49 million worth of family food packs and other non-food items have been given to over 68,000 families in the Ilocos Region.

In addition to these distributions, PHP6.6 million has also been provided to 1,112 families in Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Sur, Masbate.

Beneficiaries from Pangasinan received the majority of relief items amounting to PHP40.79 million, followed by La Union (PHP4.34 million), Ilocos Norte (PHP2.99 million), and Ilocos Sur (PHP981,801).

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is supporting the relief efforts in the Ilocos Region through the provision of vehicles for prompt delivery of food packs.

Additional payouts are expected next week as coordination continues with local government units across affected areas.
