Salceda pushes for 2-week ECQ extension until May 15

Albay Representative Joey Salceda is pushing for a two-week extension of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until May 15.

Salceda believes that by May 15, at least the minimum number of individuals tested for COVID-19 can be achieved to identify infections effectively.

He argues that lifting ECQ on April 30 would expose the population to more risks since only around 46,000 tests have been conducted so far, equivalent to just .1 percent of the country's population.

Salceda cited quantitative and scientific evidence suggesting many positive cases remain undetected due to insufficient testing.
