Duterte mulls UP's class suspension until December

President Duterte will study UP experts' recommendation to suspend classes until December to curb the spread of coronavirus.

UP's Mahar Lagmay noted that individuals aged 0-19 have the highest social interaction rate, often coming into contact with elderly people who are more vulnerable to COVID-19.

The UP model suggests suspending classes could significantly reduce transmission rates.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones mentioned considering moving school opening to August and holding Saturday classes due to restrictions imposed by the government.
