Solon urges Duterte to extend service of gov't contractuals until year-end

Lawmaker Rufus Rodriguez urged President Duterte to extend the service of around 700,000 contractual government employees until the end of 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.

Contractual workers do not enjoy benefits regular personnel receive and their contracts are typically only six months long, subject to renewal.

Rodriguez cited the plea from the Workers of Government Movement in Cagayan de Oro City for these contractual employees' service to be retained beyond contract expiration.
