Senator urges public to follow ECQ protocols

Senator Joel Villanueva urged Filipinos on Friday to strictly follow enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and avoid stricter enforcement measures.

Villanueva warned that if people continue to defy quarantine rules, President Rodrigo Duterte may be forced to call in the military and police to enforce social distancing and curfew, similar to martial law.

The senator emphasized the need for public cooperation to ease the burden on frontliners and help contain the virus, noting over 108,000 violators have been recorded by the Philippine National Police as of April 13.
