PNP: Refusal of social distancing in markets could lead to arrest

The Philippine National Police (PNP) warned on Tuesday that individuals who refuse to observe social distancing in public markets could face arrest for violating the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act.

PNP spokesman Brigadier General Bernard Banac stated that three teams would be deployed in public markets to control entry, with around 500 policemen monitoring major markets in Metro Manila.

Deputy Chief for Operations Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar announced on Monday that additional law enforcers will be deployed in public markets nationwide to ensure social distancing measures are followed.
