Senate opens 2nd regular session with social distancing

The Philippine Senate opened its second regular session on Monday with 17 senators present in person and six joining online.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III emphasized a sense of urgency as the nation deals with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Social distancing measures were implemented, including acrylic barriers between seats and masks for all attendees.

Priority legislation includes the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, which outlines a P140-billion economic stimulus package, and the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act, aiming to reduce corporate income tax.
