Zubiri monitors SONA from home as Cabinet members attend physically

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri will monitor President Rodrigo Duterte's 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) from home due to fears of contracting COVID-19.

Zubiri, a previous COVID survivor, said he is afraid of getting infected at Batasang Pambansa.

Some Cabinet members who tested negative for COVID-19 will attend the SONA physically, including Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano confirmed that Duterte's SONA will take place at Batasang Pambansa with strict safety protocols in place, allowing only 50 people inside to ensure no new cases arise.
