Samar towns provide aid, push for mass testing amid COVID-19 surge

Catbalogan city in Samar provided food aid to 3,425 families in Mercedes village under lockdown due to a confirmed COVID-19 case on May 3.

Mayor Dexter Uy thanked local officials and volunteers for facilitating the distribution of rice, noodles, canned goods, and other essentials.

Tarangnan town, also in Samar, is pushing for mass testing after reporting five new cases, bringing its total to 14.

Samar's provincial government formed a special task force to support Tarangnan, which includes speeding up supply movements and ensuring quarantine protocol enforcement.
