Zamboanga reports 10 more former inmates test positive for COVID-19

Zamboanga City reports 10 more former inmates testing positive for COVID-19, bringing the total cases to 134.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar confirms that one individual from a group of 60 former prisoners under mandatory quarantine tested positive on Thursday night.

Nine additional individuals from another batch of released detainees also tested positive on Friday morning; these individuals were swabbed and tested before their release from the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center.

The mayor states all confirmed cases among former inmates have been transferred to isolation facilities, while results for 27 others remain pending.

Dr. Joshua Brillantes of DOH announces that a molecular laboratory in Zamboanga City has received certification from RITM and may soon receive a license to operate.
