PH coronavirus cases hit 10,610

As of Saturday, May 9, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the Philippines reached 10,610 with 147 new cases reported.

The Department of Health (DOH) also recorded 8 additional deaths and 108 recoveries.

Most of the new cases were from Metro Manila, accounting for 84% of the total new cases on Saturday.

Despite government claims that the curve is flattening, an Ateneo mathematician argues that the number of daily new cases continues to rise.

The DOH reported a decreasing percentage of positive test results as an indicator of possible containment efforts.
