Super Typhoon Rolly damages 755 Bicol transmission lines

Super Typhoon Rolly damaged 755 transmission lines in the Bicol Region, with 47 backbone structures toppled.

DOE Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella reported that 60 percent of electric posts in Catanduanes were destroyed and 30 percent were leaning poles.

NGCP deployed volunteer linemen to help local electric cooperatives restore power; key areas like Virac, Catanduanes are expected to be re-energized within one to two weeks.

As of Wednesday, 18 transmission lines remained down in the aftermath of Rolly, with half located in southern Luzon and two restored in Naga City, Camarines Sur.

Teams from around the country were deployed for damage assessment and restoration works; several power plants are already back online.
