UST secures twice-to-beat in UAAP women's volleyball

University of Santo Tomas secured a twice-to-beat advantage in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament by defeating De La Salle University on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Angge Poyos, UST's prized rookie, scored 22 points to help secure the victory over DLSU and is now just two points away from breaking Casiey Dongallo's record for most points by a rookie in a single season.

UST finished second behind National University (NU) with a twice-to-beat advantage, while La Salle faces significant pressure due to injuries and a challenging path ahead.

Jonna Perdido's outstanding performance with 19 points secured UST's crucial victory over DLSU, earning her the UAAP Players of the Week presented by San Miguel Corporation for April 24.

UST’s libero and team captain Detdet Pepito emphasized the importance of unity and focus as they prepare for the semifinals next Sunday at 4 PM at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
