Rookie of the Year Poyos stays optimistic after losing finals

UAAP Season 86 Rookie of the Year Angge Poyos remained optimistic for her team's future despite losing to NU Lady Bulldogs in the finals on Wednesday, May 15.

Poyos played through a grade III right ankle sprain and was limited to just one point as she could not give full effort due to the injury.

Despite the loss, Poyos expressed gratitude towards her coaches for their trust and support throughout the season, noting that the team's core remains intact.

UST’s strength and conditioning staff worked tirelessly to help Poyos walk almost normally during warm-ups before Game 2, though she was a game-time decision.

Poyos emphasized her commitment to the team's best interest and expressed confidence in future success, aiming for a gold medal next year despite this season's silver-medal finish.
