NU Lady Bulldogs win UAAP women's volleyball title

The National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs clinched their fourth UAAP women's volleyball championship on Wednesday, May 15, by defeating the UST Golden Tigresses in Game 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Led by Alyssa Solomon and Bella Belen, NU triumphed with a score of 25-23, 23-25, 27-25, 25-18, earning Finals MVP honors for Solomon who contributed 17 points in Game 1.

Former Lady Bulldog Jaja Santiago, now a pro player in Japan, expressed pride and joy upon witnessing NU's victory, feeling as if she had won the championship herself.

Santiago, who trained with the team before Game 2, praised Solomon for her leadership and resilience, noting that her advice to improve certain aspects of her game was heeded by the current star player.

The Lady Bulldogs' victory marks their return to the championship after a one-year hiatus, solidifying their status as a dominant force in women's volleyball; Belen added 19 points in Game 2 and expressed pride in her team's resilience despite early setbacks this season.
