PNP confirms 3 Delta cases among ranks

The Philippine National Police confirmed on Friday that three cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19 were detected among its personnel.

Police Lieutenant General Joselito Vera Cruz, commander of the Administrative Support for COVID-19 Task Force, stated that the officers tested positive in July and completed their 14-day isolation period.

However, genome sequencing results confirming the Delta variant were only released this August.

As a result, the three police personnel underwent another RT-PCR test as advised by the Department of Health.

One officer again tested positive and is now admitted to an isolation facility operated by a local government unit.
