GenSan forms task force to monitor coastal border against Delta variant

General Santos City officials formed Task Force Dalampasigan on August 5 to monitor and prevent unauthorized entry of travelers from Indonesia and Malaysia due to the spread of the Delta variant.

The task force includes military, police units, and various government agencies responsible for intelligence, security operations, logistics, shoreline patrol, and coastal surveillance.

On Friday, additional maritime assets such as the BRP Tubbataha and high-speed patrol boats were deployed by the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police Maritime Unit-12 to secure Sarangani Bay from unauthorized vessels.

Mayor Ronnel Rivera created Task Force Bantay Dalampasigan through Executive Order No. 32, aimed at preventing illegal drug entry, smuggling, and terrorist activities in addition to monitoring fishing and motor launch vessels that may have docked in affected ports.
