PNP chief wins charity boxing match by default; raises PHP20M

A charity boxing match between Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III and acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian 'Baste' Duterte has raised over PHP20 million in cash donations and ticket sales.

Torre won by default as Duterte did not show up for the event, which proceeded with four undercard bouts featuring boxers from the PNP boxing team.

The event also received goods such as canned foods, rice sacks, and other relief items to aid communities affected by recent disasters.

Notable attendees included Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla and National Police Commission Vice Chairman Rapahelm Calinisan.

Torre recently debunked a claim that police personnel were obligated to attend his charity boxing match, stating it was 'fake news' and showing screenshots of misleading messages.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Philippine Red Cross for calamity victims.
