Davao City Mayor Duterte challenges PNP chief to boxing match with drug test condition

Acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte challenged Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III to a charity boxing match but set new conditions for the event.

Duterte demanded that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and all elected officials undergo a hair follicle drug test before agreeing to participate in the proposed boxing match, citing skepticism about Torre's sincerity.

Torre accepted the challenge last Wednesday and began training at the PNP Gymnasium in Camp Crame, Quezon City, while preparations are underway for the event scheduled for Sunday morning at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Despite Duterte's demand, Torre refused to answer it, as stated by PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo on a recent interview.

Many sponsors have pledged aid for flood victims, although the identities and number of sponsors remain undisclosed; all donations will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for distribution.
