Acting Davao Mayor Duterte flies to Singapore for charity boxing match with PNP chief

Acting Davao Mayor Sebastian 'Baste' Duterte flew to Singapore on Friday ahead of a charity boxing match against Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.

Despite Duterte's initial condition that all government officials take drug tests, he presented his travel authority document only after the scheduled match at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila on Sunday morning.

Gen. Torre expressed confusion over the timing of Duterte's travel documents and questioned their necessity given the original conditions for the bout.

Duterte had challenged Torre to a boxing match via YouTube, which was set up as a charity event to aid victims of heavy rains and flooding.

The acting mayor flew to Singapore last Friday, according to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Bureau of Immigration, while raising questions about the purpose and timing of his travel.
