DLSU men's basketball team beats UST 88-67; Phillips dedicates win to late security guard Susalta

De La Salle University's men's basketball team dominated the University of Santo Tomas in their UAAP Season 87 match on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum, winning 88-67.

Mike Phillips led DLSU with a double-double performance of 12 points and 18 rebounds, dedicating his game to deceased security guard Doleo Susalta who passed away recently. The emotional player shared during the post-game press conference that Susalta was more than just a security guard but also someone who provided him emotional support.

Phillips continued his strong performance in the past week with double-double efforts against Far Eastern University and UST, earning the Collegiate Press Corps Player of the Week citation for the period September 25 to 29.

Luisa San Juan, Phillips' teammate on DLSU's women's basketball team, also earned her own Player of the Week citation for her outstanding performance in their victory against Far Eastern University and close defeat to UST.

Coach Topex Robinson emphasized the importance of creating a safe space within the team where players can be vulnerable and receive support during challenging times, adding that they are excited about their upcoming match against University of the Philippines.
