La Salle Lady Archers win UAAP game; Luisa San Juan sets record with ten three-point shots

La Salle Lady Archers secured their first win in UAAP Season 87, thanks to a historic performance by Luisa San Juan who set a league record of ten three-point shots in an 89-65 victory over FEU Lady Tamaraws on Wednesday, September 25.

San Juan's explosive 34-point game tied the men's top downtown marks set by Allan Caidic and Jeff Napa, breaking Khate Castillo's previous women's record of eight three-pointers in a single game.

The third-year guard credited her teammates and coaches for boosting her confidence, emphasizing that she did not expect to break any records but was focused on contributing to the team's success.

San Juan highlighted the rising quality of play in women's basketball by showcasing that women have equal capabilities as men when it comes to shooting accuracy.

Patricia Mendoza added 16 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals in support of San Juan as La Salle ended a four-game losing streak.

Coach Cholo Villanueva praised his players for demonstrating the grit needed to turn their fortunes around, noting that breaking records reflects positively on the program's legacy.
