National U ends four-game losing streak, beats Ateneo 78-68

National University ended its four-game losing streak with a 78-68 victory over Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament on Saturday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Coach Jeff Napa expressed relief and gratitude after the win, acknowledging the emotional toll of recent losses and injuries to his team, particularly the ACL injury sustained by Mo Diassana in their season debut.

Ken Padrones led National U with a career-high 18 points and six rebounds, while Jake Figueroa contributed 15 points, seven boards, and four assists.

Napa credited his players' resilience and positive attitude for overcoming challenges, noting the importance of maintaining morale despite setbacks.

The Bulldogs finished the first round in sixth place with a 2-5 record but remain optimistic about their prospects in the second round.
