Philippines' weekly COVID-19 positivity rate rises to 6.8%

Philippines' weekly COVID-19 positivity rate increased to 6.8%, with six regions exceeding the 5% benchmark set by the World Health Organization.

The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded the highest positivity rate at 9.3%, while other regions like Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Mimaropa, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon also surpassed the 5% threshold.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David reported that NCR's positivity rate rose to 9.8% on July 5 from 8.3% on Saturday, with several provinces such as Antique, Batangas, Cavite, Iloilo, Laguna, Pampanga, and Rizal also recording rates above 10%.

The DOH noted a continuous increase in national case trends, averaging 1,103 cases per day from June 28 to July 4.
