Robredo: PH failed to act urgently at start of COVID-19 crisis

Vice President Leni Robredo accused the government of failing to act urgently at the start of the COVID-19 crisis.

Robredo claimed that the Philippines is now playing catch-up due to initial complacency, despite having one of the longest lockdowns in the world.

She criticized the delay in banning flights from China and the lack of urgency in procuring safety gear for frontliners.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque defended the government's actions, stating that millions of infections and deaths could have occurred without the lockdown.
