Philippines logs 562 new COVID-19 cases, total now at 27,799

As of Thursday, June 18, the Philippines has recorded a total of 27,799 confirmed coronavirus cases.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 562 new cases on Thursday, with 481 being fresh cases and 81 late cases.

Central Visayas, including Cebu City under strict lockdown, accounted for the majority of new cases at 53%, followed by Metro Manila at 27%.

The DOH also reported 270 recoveries and nine deaths on Thursday, bringing total recoveries to 7,090 and fatalities to 1,116.

Active cases now stand at 19,310, with 416 (2.2%) asymptomatic, 18,810 (97.4%) showing mild symptoms, 65 (0.3%) having severe symptoms, and 19 (0.1%) in critical condition.
