Philippines expands pediatric vaccine sites for minors with comorbidities

Health Secretary Duque announced that local government units and health centers near hospitals will be included in Phase 2 of pediatric vaccination for children with comorbidities.

Marikina Mayor Teodoro urged the national government to deliver vaccine supplies to LGUs for the inoculation of people aged 12 to 17, which began on October 15.

Vaccine czar Galvez reported that only four out of 1,509 vaccinated minors experienced minor adverse effects such as dizziness and allergies.

As of Wednesday, 3,416 adolescents with comorbidities aged 15 to 17 have been vaccinated; Phase 2 will start on Friday covering more than 140,000 adolescents in 25 hospitals.

The pilot pediatric vaccination program in NCR is expanding to include 13 more local government-based hospitals starting Friday.
