Philippines Reports 15,049 Total COVID-19 Cases with Highest Single-Day Increase

As of Wednesday May 27, the Philippines recorded a total of 15,049 COVID-19 cases with 380 new infections, marking the highest single-day increase since April 6.

Total recoveries increased to 3,506 after 94 more patients recovered from the disease, while the death toll rose to 904 with 18 new fatalities.

Experts advised against easing quarantine restrictions in high-risk areas due to an upward trend of infections in many cities within the capital region.

As of May 25, a total of 2,420 healthcare workers have tested positive for COVID-19, up from 2,336 cases reported on May 21; no new fatalities among health workers were reported since May 10.

The DOH also noted that 1,163 healthcare workers have recovered and there are currently 1,226 active cases among health workers.
