GenSan, Baguio set up containerized Covid-19 labs

General Santos City's containerized biosafety level 2 laboratory for Covid-19 testing is scheduled to arrive on Friday.

The facility will undergo inspection by the DOH and RITM before commencing actual testing using RT-PCR kits.

Mayor Ronnel Rivera of General Santos City said Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. committed to fast-tracking the approval and operationalization of the laboratory.

Baguio City is also planning to establish its own Covid-19 testing lab, aiming for it to be operational within two to three months.

The new labs in both cities aim to increase regional testing capacities and improve contact tracing efforts.
